What are Beaver Scouts?
Beaver Scouts are our youngest members of 6-8 years. They usually meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.
They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.
There are 20 beaver colonies within the East and South District , each delivering a wide variety of activities and adventures to girls and boys aged between 6 and 8.
We have at least 2 District run events per year and these are fantastically supported by the groups and leaders. The events range from Badge Days to sleepovers. The latest sleepover was attended by 153 beavers and for nearly half of them it was their first night away so a big achievement for them.
“My favourite part was making ice cream in a bag” Ceinwyn
“I liked breakfast best” Oscar
“I liked building a castle out of boxes and knocking it down with a catapult” Finlay
You are never too old to join in the adventure. Due to a shortage of volunteers there are currently 30,000 young people waiting to join the Scouts. If there is a waiting list for your local Group – why not help out? Whatever your skills and availability, there will be some way you can contribute, meaning more young people get to experience the adventure of Scouting.
